Main processing facility and lab

Main plant and Seed Lab

In 1999 Universal Seed LLC purchased a former John Deere dealership and converted it into a warehouse and seed cleaning facility. Over the years the facility has been through an incredible transformation. Universal Seed has responded quickly to meet the needs of our customers and the increasing number of acres of production.
  • In 2015 we built a state-of-the-art milling line designed specifically for processing hybrid spinach and other types of high-volume crops.
  • In 2017 we started our own quality assurance lab for in-house testing and real-time quality checks.
  • In 2018 we built a cleaning line dedicated to milling lettuce and other small-volume crops and built a sophisticated bulk receiving station.
  • In 2018 we employed a Registered Seed Technologist and became an official SCST inspected seed lab, and issue reports of analysis according to the AOSA rules.
  • In 2022 we received accreditation from NSHS to conduct phytosanitary visual inspection exams.
Our seed lab performs germination testing and physical purity analysis for all our crops. The lab has been key for Quality Assurance providing reports of analysis and real time quality checks for milling. Our accreditation for phytosanitary visual inspection shortens the time spent post-production preparing lots and samples for shipment overseas.
The Main Plant is also a USDA/ODA organic certified processing and handling facility. Our staff are detail oriented and passionate about producing the highest quality seed possible.
